Busch Stadium is a baseball venue in St. Louis, Missouri, designed by the architectural firm Populous and completed in 2006. Home to Major League Baseball's St. Louis Cardinals, it seats 44,383 spectators and includes 3,706 club seats and 61 luxury suites. The stadium opened on April 4, 2006, with an exhibition game between minor league affiliates, followed by the Cardinals' first major league game on April 10, 2006, a 6–4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. It occupies part of the former Busch Memorial Stadium's footprint, with the remaining land developed into Ballpark Village. In 2004, Anheuser-Busch secured 20-year naming rights for the facility, continuing a naming tradition dating to 1953, when Sportsman's Park was renamed Busch Stadium—the brewer August Busch Jr. having chosen the name after league rules prevented naming it after the company's Budweiser brand.
