Located in the Bronx's Concourse neighborhood, Yankee Stadium opened in April 2009 as the home of Major League Baseball's New York Yankees, replacing the original stadium that stood from 1923 to 2008. Designed by Populous, the $2.3 billion facility was constructed on the 24-acre site of the former Macombs Dam Park, one block north of its predecessor. The new stadium deliberately echoes the original's iconic design, replicating its exterior and trademark frieze while providing larger modern spaces and amenities. Built with $1.2 billion in public subsidies, it ranks among the most expensive stadiums ever constructed and seats the fifth-largest capacity in Major League Baseball. Beyond hosting the Yankees, the venue has served as home to MLS expansion team New York City FC since 2015 and has accommodated college football games, including the annual Pinstripe Bowl, along with concerts and other events.
