Schine's Auburn Theatre, located on South Street in Auburn, New York, is an outstanding example of Streamline Moderne design completed in 1938 by renowned theatre architect John Eberson. The building showcases the later Art Deco style through its ceramic brick and terra cotta facade, stylized marquee, and a 2,000-seat auditorium distinguished by complex arrangements of flat and curvilinear surfaces adorned with a shooting star motif. Built specifically for the Schine's Theatre chain, it was equipped with the latest air conditioning technology and featured special headphones for hard-of-hearing patrons. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, the theatre has been undergoing renovation since 2003.
