Built around 1905 in Jackson, Mississippi, the Sims House at 513 N. State Street is a Queen Anne style residence and one of the last surviving examples of that architectural period on the city's "Grand Boulevard." The property emerged during a transformative moment for North State Street, which developed into a prestigious tree-lined avenue of homes for state leaders following the 1903 completion of the state capitol. Dr. Walter Scott Sims, a notable Mississippi native who was the state's first ear, nose, and throat specialist and a pioneer in eye cataract surgery, acquired the house from Joseph Henry Morris in 1905. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 while under restoration, the house is now used as a commercial property.
