The Smíchov Synagogue, completed in 1863 at Stroupežnického 32 in Prague's Smíchov district, originally served the Reform Jewish congregation in a style blending Art Nouveau and Moorish Revival elements. The structure underwent substantial remodelling in 1931 in the Functionalist style. Following World War II and the destruction of the Smíchov Jewish community during the Holocaust, the building ceased its religious function and was repurposed for secular use. Since 1998 it has housed an archive of the Jewish Museum in Prague. Designated a National Cultural Monument of the Czech Republic in 1990, the synagogue represents both the architectural evolution of Prague's religious structures and the historical rupture of the city's Jewish heritage.
