Sparrenberg Castle, situated on a 180-metre hill in the Teutoburg Forest near Bielefeld's city center in Germany, rises 60 metres above the surrounding landscape and has served as the city's signature landmark. Founded in 1250, the fortress owes its current appearance primarily to reconstructions undertaken in the 16th and 19th centuries. Now restored, it stands as an architectural heritage monument in North Rhine-Westphalia, with the Hermannsweg long-distance hiking trail passing directly through its grounds.
