St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Prairieville, Alabama, is a Carpenter Gothic structure built in 1853 by enslaved laborers. The design appears to derive from a book by Richard Upjohn, a leading figure in Gothic Revival architecture. Remarkably well preserved, the church exemplifies the wooden Gothic style characteristic of rural American churches of its era. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark on November 7, 1973, and remains open to the public.
