St George's Church stands in the rural village of Eastergate in West Sussex, its foundations rooted in Saxon worship, though the structure visible today owes much to 13th-century rebuilding. The church retains some 11th-century work in its chancel, surviving evidence of its ancient origins before extensive Victorian restoration and twentieth-century repairs reshaped its appearance. Originally the parish church of Eastergate alone, it has been administered jointly with neighbouring Barnham and Aldingbourne since 1992, and continues in active use for weekly worship and visits from the local school. Approached through a farmyard south of the village, the Grade II* listed building stands near a magnificent Elizabethan granary, also listed, which the church has repurposed for various functions since the 1970s.
