Saint George Ukrainian Catholic Church, located in Manhattan's East Village at 7th Street and Taras Shevchenko Place, was completed in 1978 by architect Apollinaire Osadca. Designed in a blend of Greek Revival and Byzantine Revival styles, the church and its adjoining St. George Academy have functioned as a spiritual, political, and cultural center for Ukrainian Americans in New York City for over a century, though the buildings themselves lie just outside the boundaries of the East Village Historic District.
