Saint George's Cathedral stands on a commanding hilltop in Lviv, western Ukraine, overlooking the historic city. Built between 1744 and 1760 by architect Bernhard Meretyn, this baroque-rococo structure represents the third church to occupy the site since the 13th century. Its elevated position and architectural prominence made it a recurring target for invaders and vandals throughout its history. The cathedral held profound significance in Ukrainian religious and cultural life, serving as the mother church of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church during the 19th and 20th centuries. Today it is recognized as an Architectural Heritage site of National Importance in Ukraine.
