St Volodymyr's Cathedral stands at the heart of Kyiv, occupying a prominent position at the intersection of Ivan Franko Street, Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, and the Botanical Square. Designed by architect Alessandro Beretti and completed in 1862, this brick Byzantine Revival structure rises 49 meters and has become one of the city's defining landmarks. Since the December 2018 unification council of Ukraine's Eastern Orthodox churches, it has served under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, having previously functioned as the mother church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate.
