St Mary's Church in Nantwich, Cheshire, is a Grade I listed Anglican parish church built in the 14th century and substantially restored in the 19th century by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Constructed of red sandstone, the church features an octagonal tower and is considered one of the finest medieval parish churches in England, earning the epithet "Cathedral of South Cheshire." Its interior showcases exceptional craftsmanship: a lierne-vaulted ceiling in the choir, intricately carved wooden canopies over the choirstalls, stone canopies adorning the sedilia in the chancel, and twenty misericords. Architectural historians have consistently praised the building—Raymond Richards called it "one of the great architectural treasures of Cheshire," while Alec Clifton-Taylor included it among England's outstanding parish churches.
