St Mary's Church in Lastingham, North Yorkshire, is a Norman parish church of the Church of England whose origins trace to a Catholic monastery founded in 654, though the present structure dates from the latter part of the 11th century. It became an Anglican parish church during the English Reformation. The building is Grade I listed and has long served as an important site of Christian heritage in Northern England, drawing pilgrims particularly to its rare crypt, which is said to be architecturally unique in England and possibly the world.
