St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Palo Alto, California, is the city's oldest church, built between 1901 and 1902. Its distinctive Carpenter Gothic Victorian style has made it a signature landmark for downtown, located at the corner of Waverley and Homer Avenues, three blocks south of University Avenue and at the northern edge of the historic Professorville neighborhood. The church is a registered historic landmark and gained additional cultural recognition as a filming location for Hal Ashby's 1971 film *Harold and Maude*. Today it serves as the parish church of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, which also maintains two chapels of ease; the parish itself represents the result of a 1987 consolidation of multiple Catholic communities across Palo Alto and Stanford University.
