The State Library of Berlin's Potsdamer Straße branch, completed in 1978, is a striking example of Neues Bauen design by architect Hans Scharoun. Rising 42 meters in the Mitte district, the building exemplifies the modernist principles that defined Scharoun's career, blending functional library spaces with distinctive architectural forms. Recognized as an architectural heritage monument, this structure represents an important chapter in postwar Berlin's cultural infrastructure and remains a significant example of twentieth-century German modernism.
