The Synagogue of Châlons-en-Champagne, erected in 1875 in the Marne department of northeastern France, represents a striking example of Moorish Revival architecture in a region historically distant from such stylistic influences. Designed by architect Alexis Vagny, the building reflects the nineteenth-century fascination with Islamic ornamental traditions that characterized much European synagogue design of the period. Today recognized as a monument historique inscrit, the structure remains an important testament to the Jewish community's presence in Châlons and to the eclectic architectural ambitions of the Belle Époque era.
