The T.B. Scott Free Library in Merrill, Wisconsin, is a Prairie School building completed in 1911 by the architectural firm Claude and Starck, funded by a $17,500 Carnegie Corporation grant. Listed on both the Wisconsin State Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places, the library has evolved significantly since its construction, with additions undertaken in 1969 and 2001. In 2017, the building received a 27.25-kilowatt solar power array featuring 79 collectors designed to supply approximately 15 percent of the library's annual electricity, complemented by a public learning kiosk that tracks real-time energy performance. The library has twice received the Wisconsin Library Association's Library of the Year award and serves as the main library for the Wisconsin Valley Library Service, which encompasses 26 public libraries across north-central Wisconsin.
