The Plainview Carnegie Library in Plainview, Nebraska is a modest one-story brick structure built in 1916–1917, standing 30 by 42 feet with a raised basement. Designed by Norfolk architect J.C. Stitt and constructed by Frank T. Houx, it exemplifies Prairie School architecture through details such as its hipped roof with wide eaves and modillions. As one of 68 Nebraska communities to receive Carnegie library grant funds, the building served its community for decades; in 1977 its lower level was renovated to include a children's reading room. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
