Located on Mary Street in Taunton, Somerset, this chapel was erected in 1712 to replace an earlier Baptist meeting house from 1670. Originally built as a Baptist chapel, it gradually shifted toward Unitarianism during the 18th century under the ministry of Joseph Jeffries—a transformation that remained technically illegal until Parliament permitted Unitarian worship in 1813. The Presbyterians of Taunton merged with the congregation in 1814. The building's most distinctive character comes from extensive 19th-century renovation work, which gave it its present Italianate exterior. Now Grade II* listed, the chapel has undergone structural and decorative restoration in recent decades and remains active, hosting services twice monthly.
