The Tennessee Governor's Mansion, located in Oak Hill, a suburb of Nashville, is the official residence of Tennessee's governors. Built in 1929 as a private home for William Ridley Wills and his family, this three-story Georgian-style mansion sits on a 10-acre tract approximately 5 miles south of the State Capitol. The state acquired the property in 1949, and it has housed the governor and their family ever since. Open to the public by advance reservation, the mansion is one of only four official U.S. state governor's residences situated outside its state capital, joining similar residences in New Jersey, Wisconsin, and Ohio.
