Located on a promontory on Ōmishima, a small island in the Seto Inland Sea near Imabari, Ehime Prefecture, the Toyo Ito Museum of Architecture opened in 2011 to showcase contemporary design and the body of work by the Pritzker Prize-winning architect Toyo Ito himself. The museum comprises two small structures—Steel Hut and Silver Hut—both designed by Ito. Beyond displaying his architectural legacy, the museum hosts exhibitions and educational programs exploring regional development and broader themes in Japanese contemporary architecture.
