Built in 1900 in Independence, Kansas, the Union Implement and Hardware Building is a Romanesque Revival brick structure that served as a joint venture between the Union Implement and Hardware Company and Fortitude Lodge No. 107. The company occupied the first and second floors with showrooms and offices for its agricultural implements business, while the Masonic lodge claimed the upper two floors. After the implement company ceased operations in 1930 and the lodge relocated in 1957, the building persists as a testament to early twentieth-century commercial and fraternal cooperation. It is listed on both the Kansas Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places.
