Completed in 2011 in Washington, D.C.'s Foggy Bottom neighborhood near the National Mall and Potomac River, the United States Institute of Peace Headquarters is a modern office building designed by architect Moshe Safdie to serve as the first permanent home for the government-funded think tank established in 1984. The environmentally friendly structure is distinguished by its notable roof design, though critical reception of Safdie's design has been mixed.
