Viljandi Castle is a 13th-century fortification in Viljandi, Estonia, built by the Livonian Order beginning in 1224 atop the site of an earlier hillfort. Once among the strongest castles in Livonia, it was destroyed during the Polish-Swedish wars in the early 17th century. Its ruins remain standing near the town centre and are recognized as an architectural monument.
