Villa Hügel is a neoclassical mansion built in Bredeney, now part of Essen, Germany, between 1870 and 1873 by the industrialist Alfred Krupp as his principal residence. Perched atop a hill—from which its name derives—the villa served as the home of the Krupp family until after World War II. Today it functions as a cultural institution, housing the offices of the Kulturstiftung Ruhr (Ruhr Cultural Foundation), an art gallery, the historical archive of the Krupp family and company, and a concert venue. The building is recognized as an architectural heritage monument in North Rhine-Westphalia.
