The Waterville Opera House and City Hall, completed in 1897 in Waterville, Maine, is a Colonial Revival civic structure that exemplifies the dual-purpose public buildings of its era. Located at Castonguay Square at the intersection of Common and Front Streets, it combines a live performance venue with municipal government offices—functions it continues to serve today. As one of a small number of American buildings housing both an opera house and city hall, it represents an efficient approach to civic architecture from the turn of the twentieth century. The building was recognized for its historical significance when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
