The Island Falls Opera House stands at the center of Island Falls, Maine, at the junction of Old Patten Road, Burleigh Street, and Sewall Street. Built in 1894, this multipurpose structure embodied a once-common but now rare building type in rural Maine, combining retail spaces, performance halls, and residential quarters under one roof. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, the building fell into disuse before being acquired in December 2020. Under new ownership, the Opera House has undergone cleanup and restoration, with plans to reopen its theater and storefront to the community. The building now features two inn rooms for short-term guest accommodation and a residential wing occupied by the current owners.
