The Wayne County Courthouse stands at 510 Pearl Street in Wayne, Nebraska, a Richardsonian Romanesque structure completed in 1899. Measuring 70 by 80 feet, this brick and stone edifice occupies the center of a 4-acre square, notably situated within a residential neighborhood. The building was designed by Minneapolis architects Orff & Guilbert, though evidence suggests Fremont D. Orff executed the design independently, while Omaha contractors Rowles & Moore oversaw its construction. Its round-arched windows, textured masonry, and robust proportions exemplify the Richardsonian Romanesque style favored for civic buildings of the era. The courthouse was recognized for its historic significance when added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
