Completed in 2006 in downtown Eugene, Oregon, the Wayne L. Morse United States Courthouse is a six-story, 266,742-square-foot federal courthouse serving the District of Oregon within the Ninth Judicial Circuit. Designed by architect Thom Mayne in the deconstructivist style, the building overlooks the Willamette River and houses six courtrooms alongside offices for federal courts, the United States Marshals Service, and Oregon's congressional delegation. Named after former U.S. Senator Wayne Morse, a 24-year Senate veteran and Eugene resident, the courthouse achieved particular distinction as the first new federal courthouse to earn LEED Gold certification for energy efficiency, a recognition that helped establish its reputation as an award-winning design.
