Located in Westerhever, Schleswig-Holstein, the Westerheversand Lighthouse is among northern Germany's most recognizable coastal landmarks. Built in 1908, its cast iron tower rises 40 metres and has been designated a heritage monument in its region. Once a working aid to navigation, the lighthouse has been adapted for modern use: one of its two keeper's cottages now serves the local registrar, and the tower itself has welcomed visitors since 2001. The site has become a popular venue for weddings, reflecting its transition from purely functional structure to cultural destination.
