Perched in Berkeley's Panoramic Hill neighborhood, the Weston Havens House is a 1940 International Style residence designed by architect Harwell Hamilton Harris for client John Weston Havens Jr. A landmark of regional California Modernism, the home exemplifies Harris's radical approach to siting and design, deliberately oriented to capture views toward the Pacific. The structure showcases period-appropriate materials—Douglas fir and redwood—integrated into its modernist vocabulary. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008, the house remains a significant expression of early twentieth-century American modernist residential architecture.
