Demolished or destroyed.
Whitemarsh Hall was a Colonial Revival mansion designed by prominent Gilded Age architect Horace Trumbauer and completed in 1921 on a 400-acre estate in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania. Built for banking executive Edward T. Stotesbury and his wife Eva, the mansion was the third-largest private residence in the United States before its demolition in 1980—a distinction that made it the largest American house ever deliberately torn down. Despite its name, the estate actually lay in Springfield Township rather than Whitemarsh Township to the west.
