The Wilkins House, located at 387 S. Milledge Avenue in Athens, Georgia, is a Classical Revival residence built beginning in 1860 by Alfred Dearing on land formerly owned by the University of Georgia. Construction extended into the post–Civil War period, and the house passed through several owners before John Julian Wilkins, a prominent banker and president of both the Georgia National Bank and the American State Bank, purchased it in 1905 for $10,000. The property is distinguished by a large cast iron dog guarding its grounds and was recognized as a National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
