The Yusupov Palace stands in Koreiz, near Yalta in Crimea, a romantic residence built in 1909 by architect Nikolay Krasnov for Prince Felix Yusupov-Soumorokov-Elston and Princess Zinaida Yusupova. Krasnov, who also designed the nearby imperial Livadia Palace, created a structure blending Renaissance Revival and Roman Revival styles. The palace is set within a romantic park featuring exotic plants and encompasses a wine cellar established by Prince Lev Galitzine in the nineteenth century. Following the 1917 Russian Revolution, it was nationalised and became Joseph Stalin's favoured dacha, hosting him during the Yalta Conference and other occasions. From 1991 to 2014, the palace served as a residence of Ukraine's president before being transferred to Russian presidential administration following Crimea's annexation in March 2014.
