Zomorod Apartment Complex (Tehran)
District 2, Iran

Exterior only
Visible from the street; the inside is private.
The Zomorod Apartment Complex is a concrete tower block in District 2, Tehran, completed in 1974 by the American firm Gruzen and Partners under the direction of Jordan Gruzen. Exemplifying the brutalist and modernist idioms favored during Iran's Pahlavi era, the complex combines bold geometric forms and raw concrete construction typical of its period and style. The ensemble represents a significant example of mid-century international modernism adapted to an Iranian urban context.
