Located at 140 Clarendon Street in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood, this 13-story neoclassical brick-faced steel-frame building was designed by Shepard & Stearns and completed in 1929. Originally built for the YWCA Boston, it housed an indoor swimming pool and recreation facilities. The structure now serves multiple purposes, accommodating affordable and market-rate residential units through Clarendon Residences LLC, the boutique Hotel 140, performance space for the Lyric Stage of Boston, Snowden International High School facilities, and offices for various for-profit and nonprofit organizations. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
