1501 Broadway, also known as the Paramount Building, is a 33-story Art Deco and Beaux-Arts office tower designed by Rapp and Rapp and erected between 1925 and 1927 on Times Square in Manhattan's Theater District. Built as headquarters for Paramount Pictures, the building features a brick facade with limestone ornamentation on its first five stories and prominent setbacks mandated by the 1916 Zoning Resolution. A distinctive five-story arch on Broadway originally led to the Paramount Theatre, which occupied the rear wing from 1926 to 1967 and seated 3,664 patrons across four levels. The roofline is crowned with a four-faced clock and illuminated globe once capable of displaying the time. After the theater's conversion to office space in 1967, the arch, clock, and globe were restored in the late 1990s, and the building's facade earned New York City Landmark designation in 1988.
