Akkanna Madanna caves are a group of rock-cut Hindu temple complexes in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, carved from living rock during the mid-7th century under the Eastern Chalukya dynasty and dedicated to Shiva. The site comprises upper and lower cave sanctuaries, with the upper cave remaining in superior condition and preserving an important 7th-century inscription. Adjacent to the lower caves lies a small park containing inscribed pillars and fragmentary remains of other Hindu temples. Protected as monuments of national importance and managed by the Archaeological Survey of India, these caves exemplify the sophisticated rock-cut architectural traditions of early medieval South India.
