The Alamodome is a 64,000-seat domed indoor stadium in San Antonio, Texas, designed by Populous and completed in 1993 at a cost of $186 million. Located on the southeastern fringe of downtown, the facility opened on May 15, 1993, with the dual purpose of expanding the city's convention business and attracting a professional sports franchise. Initially home to the San Antonio Spurs for a decade, the basketball team later departed for a new arena, leaving the Alamodome to serve as the primary venue for UTSA Roadrunners athletics and various other professional teams including the Alliance of American Football's San Antonio Commanders, the United Football League's San Antonio Brahmas, and the Arena Football League's San Antonio Talons.
