The Alexander Macomb House, a Georgian-style mansion at 39–41 Broadway in Lower Manhattan, served as the second official Presidential Mansion of the United States. President George Washington occupied the residence from February 23 to August 30, 1790, while New York City functioned as the nation's capital. The building stood for nearly a century and a half after Washington's departure, becoming the last surviving former U.S. presidential mansion until its demolition in 1940.
