The President's Mansion stands on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa as a Greek Revival structure completed in 1841. Designed to serve as the official residence of university presidents, it has continuously fulfilled that function since its completion. The building narrowly escaped destruction during the American Civil War, allowing it to survive as one of the oldest structures remaining on campus. Its architectural and historical significance led to its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
