Anshei Minsk, a brick synagogue in Toronto's Kensington Market neighbourhood, was completed in 1930 in the Byzantine Revival style. Founded in 1912 by Jewish immigrants from Minsk in the Russian Empire, the congregation established itself as a centre of Orthodox Jewish life in the city. The building has been served by only three full-time rabbis since its early years, and remains the sole Orthodox synagogue in Downtown Toronto with permanent rabbinic leadership, continuing to hold regular Friday evening services.
