The Kiever Synagogue in Toronto is a Modern Orthodox Jewish place of worship built in 1927 in the Byzantine Revival style, distinguished by its twin domes. Founded in 1912 by Ukrainian Jewish immigrants and formally incorporated in 1914, the congregation initially held services in members' homes before acquiring land in the Kensington Market area where the current building was constructed. The synagogue deteriorated during the 1950s and 1960s as membership declined, but was rescued through preservation efforts initiated by the Canadian Jewish Congress in 1973. In 1979, it became the first building of Jewish significance designated a historical site by the province of Ontario, and following a restoration campaign, the building was fully refurbished by 1982.
