Fort Hunter Mansion, officially known as the Archibald McAllister House, stands on the Susquehanna River roughly six miles north of Harrisburg in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The property comprises a 1787 stone cabin—a modest two-story, two-room structure—enlarged in 1814 with a substantial 2½-story, five-bay stone dwelling in the Federal style, creating a T-shaped floor plan. The 1814 addition features a front portico with Tuscan columns supporting a Palladian window on the second floor, while the entry door is detailed with a semicircular fanlight and sidelights with thin wooden ribbing. A mid-to-late-nineteenth-century woodframe summer kitchen was later appended. The house now operates as a nineteenth-century historic house museum set within a forty-acre park and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 as part of the Fort Hunter Historic District.
