The Aveiro Lighthouse, also known as the Lighthouse of Praia da Barra, stands 62 metres tall at Gafanha da Nazaré on Portugal's central coast, making it the country's tallest lighthouse. Built in 1893 from stone, it rises from the Praia da Barra at the southern margin of the Ria de Aveiro, where it commands views of the barrier beach and endures exposure to Atlantic storms. The structure remains active and is open to public visits on Wednesday afternoons, while its status as cultural heritage is currently under study for formal protection.
