The Bayreuth Festival Theatre stands north of Bayreuth, Germany, as an opera house purpose-built by the 19th-century composer Richard Wagner and designed by architect Gottfried Semper. Constructed primarily of wood, the theatre was conceived and erected specifically for the annual Bayreuth Festival, which presents exclusively Wagner's stage works. It serves as home to the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and remains an architectural heritage monument in Bavaria, formally known as the Richard-Wagner-Festspielhaus.
