The National Theatre on Max-Joseph-Platz in Munich is Germany's largest opera house, with 2,101 seats, and serves as home to the Bavarian State Opera, Bavarian State Orchestra, and Bavarian State Ballet. Completed in 1818, the neoclassical building was designed by Karl von Fischer and Leo von Klenze, two of Bavaria's most prominent architects of the era. Now recognized as an architectural heritage monument in Bavaria, it stands as a landmark of early-19th-century German theatrical architecture.
