Located at 4705 3rd Street in San Francisco's Bayview-Hunters Point district, the Bayview Opera House was designed by architect Henry Geilfuss and completed in 1888, making it the oldest existing theatre in the city. Originally known as the South San Francisco Opera House, the building has been recognized as a significant cultural landmark, earning designation as a San Francisco City Landmark in 1968, a California Point of Historical Interest that same year, and a listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. The theatre underwent substantial renovation between 2014 and 2016, preserving its historic character while updating its infrastructure for continued use.
