The Beehive Building stands on Pall Mall in central Bendigo, Victoria, a striking example of Second Empire architecture completed in 1872. Designed by Charles Webb—a noted Melbourne architect who had briefly turned to gold mining near Bendigo in 1851—the structure originally housed the Sandhurst Mining Exchange, named after the town's former designation. Built during the height of the region's gold rush prosperity, the building remains a significant contributor to Pall Mall's renowned Victorian streetscape, among the most intact of its era in Victoria. Now listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, it has been succeeded functionally by the Bendigo Stock Exchange, though local authorities are currently considering restoration efforts to preserve its historical character.
