Berlin Heidelberger Platz is a railway station in the Wilmersdorf district serving both the S-Bahn (lines S41, S42, and S46) and U-Bahn (line U3). Originally opened on the Ringbahn in 1883 as "Schmargendorf," the station was designed in Romanesque Revival style using brick. The U-Bahn station, designed by Wilhelm Leitgebel, opened in 1913 and features a distinctive high groin vault, making it among Berlin's brightest decorated underground stations. After S-Bahn service ceased in 1980, the station was revived on 17 December 1993 with a direct connection to the adjacent U-Bahn station and its present name, derived from the nearby square named after Heidelberg. The structure remains an architectural heritage monument.
